The season kicked off with fireworks as Lenexa City got us rolling, but both sides came out looking to make an early statement. Just 15 minutes in, Northland FC struck first with a sensational goal from prospect Israel Barco, setting the tone early.
But what goes up must come down.
Lenexa City responded in style with two quick goals, flipping the match 2-1 in their favor after a massive mistake by the Northland defense. Showing this one wouldn’t be a walk in the park. Northland bounced back through Tee, who brought it level at 2-2 with a composed finish. The Select League season is truly here.
From there, Northland began finding rhythm. Though plagued by a series of offsides, the movement was there. Then came the breakthrough—Tee banged in two more before the break, capping off a first-half hat triiick and giving Northland a 4-2 lead at halftime.
Fernando Ramirez Manger Northland FC: "We’re exceeding expectations. The first goal was a mistake, but we move past that. We’re going to come out strong in the second half with more energy."
And that’s exactly what they did.
With some late arrivals finally available, Northland FC entered the second half nearly at full strength—and it showed. The chemistry was flowing, the movement crisp, and the energy electric. This was Northland in their natural habitat.
Jouse couldn’t stay quiet and jumped into the action with two quick goals, earning a brace and pushing the score to 6-2. Then, once again, Tee stepped up and knocked in his fourth goal of the night—a sensational performance.
Lenexa City still had fight in them, scoring a world-class goal from distance that floated over the Northland Keeper, Fransico to make it 7-3. A true highlight-worthy strike.
But Northland wasn’t finished. Johny, taking advantage of tired legs broke through for a late goal to finalize the scoreline:
Northland FC 8 – 3 Lenexa City
